Wow, what can't you do with this feature packed CD ripper. I use it as a general audio converter too, extracting my audio to wave 16 bit pcm 48khz using Pazera Extractor, so I can see any errors in the log as it extracts in real time.

Then I pre normalize the wav in Audiograbber and finally pressing the make mp3 option using an external encoderencoder fdk. I get transparency using the command line below which is approx vbr and higher. The 16 bit wave 44khz is only suitable for the mp3 internal encoder like Lame 3. I cannot recommend this software enough.
